Who are we?
Tiffin is inspired by our parent company Maul, which was founded in Reykjavik in 2017. The brothers Hrafnkell and Egill used their strong entrepreneurial spirit to revolutionize workplace dining. The two programmers created the systems needed, starting small by delivering meals from the backseat of their father’s car. Quickly, they outgrew the back seat, and by 2022 they were serving over 1,700 meals a day.
In 2022 the brothers started collaborating with Penelope, Tiffin’s present day CEO. Tiffin was born to bring flavourful, varied and flexible meals to office workers. Lunchtime should be tailored to your taste. With a selection from various cuisines you can explore new tastes throughout your week. You order, we take care of lunch.
Why are we called TIFFIN?
Our name is inspired by the "tiffin" lunches that Dabbawalas in India have been delivering since the 19th century.
At Tiffin, we have embraced this tradition by serving our meals in steel containers, reducing single-use packaging.
Just like the Dabbawalas, who navigate Mumbai’s heavy traffic with remarkable efficiency, we collect food from various restaurants and deliver it to offices so that each employee receives the meal of their choice.
We don’t have the Dabbawalas’ long experience and clever methods, we rely on tech systems instead of pen and paper. However, we continue to deliver meals by bike, a shared tradition between the Dabbawalas and Copenhageners.
